We Must Respond
The book of James is confrontational. It is short, to the point, and it pulls no punches. While we need to orient our hearts around how we first receive these things in Christ before reflecting them into the world, it would lack serious integrity to walk away from these words and say, I do not understand what I am to do. As we mentioned last Sunday, the question for the Christian is not, "If I should obey, it is how should I obey."
With that, this Sunday will be no different, and I am more provoked than ever.
James 1:26–27
[26] If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. [27] Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. (ESV)
Church family, if possible, please plan to gather with your eternal family this Sunday to consider how we are meant to respond.
By His Grace Alone,
Steve
