We Pray

We Pray

Good Morning Eternal Church!
This Sunday, we will have a guest speaker, Chad Merrell, former pastor at North Rock Hill and now a church leadership strategist and consultant. Chad will pick us up in James 1:19-21.

This morning, I wanted to share something that has been provoking my heart. In our Bible Reading Plan we read this passage this week: Genesis 25:21: And Isaac prayed to the LORD for his wife, because she was barren. And the LORD granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived. (ESV)

As I shared on Wednesday Night with our class, my heart was captured by the narrative. God had already promised Abraham that through Isaac he would become the father of many. Yet, Isaac’s wife, chosen by God, was barren! And so Isaac prayed, and the Lord granted his prayer, and she became pregnant.

So then!
We know that God would accomplish His covenant promise, but the means by which he does so is through the prayer of Isaac. And as we know, Isaac is not perfect!

The realization:
Our Father, by His sovereign will, has ordained the prayers and works of His people to unfold His will on the earth. This caused me to stop and pray! The God of Creation has called me into a relationship with Him and given me place and purpose in His Kingdom.

What a marvelous God we serve!
So then, therefore, may we all pray today!
May we pray for His will to be done in our lives and in the world around us.
May we pray for the mission that every single one of us has been called to.
May we pray for the opportunity to love, serve, and declare the goodness of our King to those around us.
May we pray for the boldness to push back into the darkness!
May we be a people of salt and light!
May we pray for our neighbor; may we pray for our coworker; may we pray for the mission work around the world.

And then, may we go in the will of God and play our continued part in the unfolding of His plan of redemption to all those who would believe!
