Locating Our Treasure

Fair warning to our hearts: this Sunday we’ll look at James 1:9-11.
[9] Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, [10] and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. [11] For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits. (ESV)

I’d like to simply ask each of us to spend a moment between now and Sunday not only reading this passage, but also considering our life’s pursuits. What do we daydream of? What occupies our fantasies of flourishing? What do we need to be content/satisfied?
All of this leads us to the final question we will consider this Sunday: Where is our treasure?

My hope and desire is that we will not only gather together this Sunday, but also that we will surrender to the work of His Spirit in His gracious conviction through His Word, that we might grow in our trust of His goodness and be set free to an already life of joy as we eagerly await its completion.
