Acts 5:1-16 || Life In Temple: AND Not OR
You don’t love me” cried the child in the grocery cart. Mom had said “no” to candies the little one had grabbed from shelves. The interaction revealed a common belief in the parent-child relationship. And in our relationship to God. Either we get what we want OR moms don’t love us, OR God is judging us with an angry scowl.
Wise parents see through the faulty logic, and teach children the importance of the AND. We love you AND we discipline you for your good. Healthy Christians see through the faulty logic, too. "God is love” writes the Apostle John (I John 4:8) AND “he disciplines us for our good, so that we may share his holiness.” (Heb 12:10)
Yet it’s easy to forget that being the temple of the Spirit has consequences. AND that God love us.
