What is your short testimony?
My parents took me to church nearly every Sunday, and at youth camp in my teens, I “accepted” Christ. But in college and after graduation, I began to recognize the lack of fruit in my life. I realized that my acceptance of Christ had not truly been surrendered to Him.It wasn’t until I was married and our son was a toddler that I truly came to salvation through faith. Since then, two verses have become especially meaningful to me. Ephesians 4:1 says, “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,” and Habakkuk 1:5 says, “Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.”
God is doing a work that I cannot fully comprehend, but I trust in His perfect plan. My desire is to live in obedience to Him, not out of duty or legalism, but out of reverence and gratitude for the grace by which I have been called.
What is your hope for Eternal Church?
At Eternal, our mission is shaped by four coordinates: Truth, Worship, Witness, and Community. These words are displayed on the walls of our building, but through the power of the Holy Spirit, they are meant to shape the way we live.
My hope is that we begin to see Witness not simply as one of four coordinates, but as the natural overflow of the others. As we grow in our understanding of God's Truth through His Word, worship Him in every circumstance, and seek to "walk in a manner worthy of the Lord" (Colossians 1:10) in community with one another, our lives become a witness to those around us.
My prayer is that as we leave O'Henry Lane, we carry these coordinates beyond the walls of our church, bearing witness to the Truth of Christ, worshipping Him at all times, and being a light to the community we share.
