Ministry of Deacons

a lay officer appointed to assist a minister, especially in secular affairs

Eternal's Deacons are brothers and sisters who come alongside people to help them practice Gospel in their everyday lives and/or help meet communal needs.

In the Bible, we see four functional roles of the position of Deacon:

HELP

Life can get messy.

Where do you go when your marriage is hurting? Who can you talk to about job loss or insecurity about the future? How do you deal with past or present hurts out of faith, and not out of fear? Our HELPS Deacons want to walk with you through the confusion and mess and get to a place of growth and health. If you need help, you know where to go...

HOSPITALITY

Everyone wants a place to belong...to know and to become known.

Whenever and wherever we gather, we seek to create a welcoming environment for our all of us...whether visitors or regulars! We build potential for community connection by creating safe and Spirit-centric spaces for people to know each other and to become known. Our HOSPITALITY Deacons help put people to work at creating these welcoming environments where outsiders can come in, and strangers can become friends and family.

STEWARDSHIP

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

In our culture, our temporary treasures may be our greatest source of temptation hindering us from passionately following Jesus. How do we rightly exercise ownership over the money and management of our stuff so that it doesn't own us? If we cannot serve God and money, how do we choose God in a world that seems to run on money? When we get into a rough spot financially, how to we faithfully, spiritually, get out? Our STEWARDSHIP Deacons work with people who are seeking financial freedom and have a desire to bring their stewardship under the lordship of Jesus Christ.
